Fans of singer Cecilia Monte take note, she has a pair of album release shows coming up for her first full-length Open Air.
She’s coming off a well received set at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival on Canada Day.
“Open Air is my first release featuring my original compositions. The songs were born from travels, loves and desires to discover,” Monte said in a statement. “I feel very excited and grateful to be sharing my music with Canadian audiences. I’ve had the warmest welcome at the Vancouver Jazz Fest and I’m really looking forward to the second part of my tour in Toronto, where I’ll be presenting my new album.”
The Argentine born and raised Monte came to Canada in 2009 and now considers herself to be an “Adopted Canadian” since she’s spends so much time here. Monte returned to Argentina to record the album and it features five original recordings as well as five covers of jazz standards such as ‘Old Devil Moon’, ‘My Favorite Things’ and ‘I Hear Music’. Her previous releases were 2011’s Cecilia Monte Sings Jobim (2011) and 2012’s Cecilia Monte Jazz Band.
