San Diego duo Heavy Hawaii have announced they will release their latest album Goosebumps on March 19 via Art Fag Recordings.

For a preview of what to expect, they’re offering a free download/stream of the track ‘Airborne Kawasaki’ here.

“The title came from a T2 (Terminator 2) trading card, where the T1000 is bursting through a window three floors up. The lyrics are lazy and carefree,” lead songwriter Matt Bahamas said in a statement explaining the song’s lyrics.

The music that Bahamas and his bandmate guitarist Jojo Keylargo has been described as “warped Disney songs.” They have a record release party coming up in their hometown, see below for deets;

Chalk And Numbers Go On Parade On New EP

Brooklyn duo Chalk And Numbers have announced that they will release their debut EP Parade on March 12.

To give a little taste, they’re offering a free stream of the single ‘Boy’ here.

Singer Sable Yong and multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Andrew Pierce produced the album using analog equipment to give it a retro feel that’s missing from a lot of modern recordings. Pierce’s brother Dennis served as co-producer.

“A lot of current bands reference the past but feel the need to drown it in fuzz or reverb, we wanted to stay away from that,” Andrew Pierce said in a statement.

The band also plans to release their debut LP this year, release date TBA.

John Grant Reveals The Ghosts That Haunt Him On Second Album

John Grant by Hörður Sveinsson

John Grant announced that he will release his sophomore album Pale Green Ghosts on May 14 on Partisan Records. The track ‘Black Belt’ is available for free download/stream here.

The album comes at the end of an extraordinary journey for the Michigan and Colorado-bred singer/songwriter that saw him go from a life of substance abuse to working with artists such as  Sinead O’Connor, (Who contributes vocals on the new album.) Rumer and Hercules & Love Affair as well as having his music featured in the award-winning film Weekend.

The last few years have seen Grant move from Colorado to Germany to study languages to New York after his folk/noir country band The Czars split up. He’s also resided in New York, London, Berlin and Iceland, where he recorded the bulk of his new album.

The title track was inspired by Grant’s drives to Denver in the 80’s to go to the dance clubs there, something that had an influence on Pale Green Ghosts’ electronic elements.

“I’d take the I-25, between Denver and Boulder, which was lined with all these Russian olive trees, which are the pale green ghosts of the title: they have this tiny leaves with silver on the back, which glow in the moonlight,” Grant explained in a statement. “The song is about wanting to get out of a small town, to go out into the world and become someone and made my mark.”
