Vancouver’s Mesa Luna has shared a free stream of ‘Ruins’ from their Crux EP, out this fall on tape through the ndb label, release date TBA.
The duo of Justice McLellan and Alex Cooper had this to say about the track; “‘Ruins’ expresses the frustration of having a communication breakdown with someone you love or once loved. It’s that constant back and forth that circles around and around late into the night with no resolution. Exhaustion is apparent in the verses that leads up to the self-realizing line “why do I keep hanging on”… The answer to that I don’t fully understand but it makes me think of the alluring nature of degraded places of another time. It’s easy to romanticize ruins and want to preserve them, whether it’s degenerating architecture or a failed relationship.”
