The video for Hein Cooper‘s ‘Rusty’ finds the Australian singer/songwriter washing up on the shores of a beach, keeping with the isolation and contemplation found in the track’s vocals.
The vid was shot just south of Sydney and showcases the area’s natural beauty. The track can be found on Cooper’s debut album The Art of Escape, out on April 1 on Indica Records.
“‘Rusty’ ended up coming out sounding quite organic and natural so I knew I wanted to set the video in some kind of nature to match this.” says Cooper. Shot by good friend and acolyte Dan Jamieson, the location was found with the help of his brother only 30 minutes away from his childhood home. “I think the idea of showing someone attempting to live and survive in amongst nature without false distraction in this modern world related with the message of the song. So, we created something along those lines,” he explained in a statement.
Cooper trekked to Montreal to work with producer Marcus Paquin (Local Natives, Arcade Fire, The National).
Over the last year, he’s had two singles chart on triple j., received airplay on the BBC and played the Falls Festival. He has record deals on three continents and has toured the UK, Canada and France.
Cooper also announced the dates of his upcoming tour.
