Videos for a Lazy Sunday: Saul Williams’ ‘The Noise Came From Here’

Saul Williams has unveiled the video for ‘The Noise Came From Here’ from his latest release MartyrLoserKing, out now via FADER.

The Anisia Uzeyman-directed clip sees Williams storming the streets of Ferguson, Missouri barefoot and lying on the ground. He visits sites around the city related to the events there in 2015, including the site of the riots. The video is a platform for young people to speak and create an overarching message.

Two figures of note in the protests following the shooting of Michael Brown appear in the video;  Reverend Osagyefo Sekou and Marcellus Buckley.  Reverend Sekou was arrested after kneeling in prayer outside of Ferguson’s police department a month following the shooting and was recently found not guilty of failing to obey police orders.

Buckley, aka the Ferguson Poet, appears at the end of the video has gained fame thanks to his use of poetry over violence to spread an activist message following the events in the city.
