Stream Brian Eno’s ‘The Ship’ for Free

Brian Eno has shared a free stream of the title track from his forthcoming album The Ship, out on April 29 via Warp/Fontana North.

“The piece started as an Ambient work intended for a multi channel sound installation in Stockholm, but during the making of it I discovered that I could now sing a low C – which happens to be the root note of the piece. Getting older does have a few fringe benefits after all. From that point the work turned into an unusual kind of song…a type I’ve never made before where the vocal floats free, untethered to a rhythmic grid of any kind,” Eno said in a statement.

Stream Consolers’ ‘Harry’ for Free

Hanover indie rockers Consolers have shared a free stream of ‘Harry’ from their debut EP Astronaut Babes, out on April 29 via Diffus Tapes.

The band started life playing house parties in Hanover but it wasn’t long before they were touring Germany and Poland, making their festival debut at Lunatic Festival in 2015.

Consolers co-wrote and co-produced Astronaut Babes with Soren Christensen using a semi-disused tape machine.

Escondido Sign to Cadence Music

Nashville, TN duo Escondido, Jessica Maros and Tyler James, have released their second album, Walking With a Stranger, digitally via Cadence Music in Canada.

Cadence will release the album on CD and vinyl on May 13.

The band also offered up free streams of ‘Try’ and ‘Heart is Black’;

Our first record was lightning in a bottle,” James said in a statement. “This time around was a hibernation so we could dig into the arrangements and sounds.”

“We weren’t as precious about all the tracks being stylistically cohesive,” Maros added. “We just focused on writing good songs that come from an honest place.”

When Escondido came together in 2011, it marked a new chapter for the band’s members. Maros found success as a clothing and jewelry designer after the pair moved from Vancouver to Nashville for their music. Her jewelry has been worn by Prince and Lady Antebellum while her handmade dresses have been worn on the red carpet at the Oscars and CMAs.

James originally hails from a small town in Iowa and spent a decade touring as a solo artist before hooking up with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros as a touring keyboard player in 2010.

Escondido recorded their 2013 debut album The Ghost of Escondido in a single day. The music received approval from David Lynch and was used in multiple movies and TV shows including HBO’s Girls and Sex Tape.

They have played on Conan and shared the stage with Lord Huron, The Lone Bellow, Wild Cub and Islands.

Stream Wake Island’s ‘Never Entirely There’ for Free

Wake Island have shared a free stream of ‘Never Entirely There’ from their sophomore album Out, available on April 29 via Oh Hi, the band’s label.

“Electronic music always fascinated us but we knew nothing about it, so we rented a cabin for a month and completely removed ourselves from our surroundings. We learnt everything during that time and reimagined our whole songwriting approach by experimenting with different instruments and technologies. Everything started making sense to us at that point,” Philippe Manasseh, the band’s vocalist, explained in a statement.

The new album sees the band moving away from the sound of their debut and experimenting with pop and electronic sounds.

Out blends electronic and pop music with rock elements thanks to producer and long-time friend Jace Lasek. The result is a collection of songs that is coherent with their past work. Wake Island touches on the themes of self-discovery through immigration and adapting to new environments on the album.

Manasseh and Nadim Maghzal divide their time between Montreal and NYC.
