Houston folk singer Adam Bricks explores the time-honoured themes of love, hate, sex, sadness and longing on his sophomore album Relations, out on May 6.
He’s offered a free stream of the first single ‘The Only One’.
“‘The Only One’ was written the spring after I lost my job,” Bricks explained in a statement. “It’s about trying to convince myself to do music full time, and how hard it is to do. I guess maybe it’s about how hard it is to live life the way you want to in general these days.”
Bricks is a transplant from NYC’s anti-folk scene. His first release, 2011’s Clock Crash EP saw him play up and down the East Coast. Relations is a personal record about relations between friends, lovers and people in general.
“I feel towards people,” Bricks said. “It’s Indie Rock with some Alt Folk thrown in.”
