Toronto artist Bossie, aka Anne Douris, has shared the video for ‘Strawberry Moon’ from her debut album Not Pictured, out on April 27 via Culvert Music.
“Growing up as girls, messages about how we should look and behave come at us from all sides, so you’re constantly carrying around these expectations. It’s overwhelming,” Douris said in a statement. “The director, Allison Johnston, and I wanted to visualize that by physically building this overwhelming world through the looking glass. We wanted it to look as bizarre and over-the-top as it can sometimes feel to be a woman. So I constructed these colossal make-up products as a way of showing how these images of “beauty” are not only ridiculous and disorienting, but literally a huge burden.”

Ben Stevenson is offering a free stream of ‘Yellow Bird’ from his forthcoming LP Cara Cara, out on September 22 via Culvert Music.
It’s the follow-up to his 2014 EP.
‘I wrote my new song ‘Yellow Bird’ in the California desert high above Joshua Tree where I was working with Adam Pavao in his desert hideaway studio. I feel the expanse of the land in the song, a song about freedom. It’s about realizing that reality is undefined, not fixed, and to experience liberation you have to rid yourself of attachment and expectation,” Stevenson said in an e-mail.
He said that he feels the most connected with this release.
“I’ve been able to approach it with ample care and attention. There’s a blend of ideas that I’ve picked up in different contexts in the way this record was made, taking the lessons from the people I’ve worked with and applying them to making a record in the way I initially learned how to do it,” Stevenson said.
Toronto’s The Good Boys have shared the video for ‘Single Malt Shop’ from their 7″ single of the same name. The single is out on March 31 via Culvert Music.
They’re holding a release party for the single at the Smiling Buddha in Toronto on March 31. It’s a free show. The single will be for sale along with their previous single “I’m Not Pretending”. They’ll be joined by Lum (Bedroomer) and Mune.
The video features the band downing tumbler after tumbler of the good stuff to quell the ache of a broken heart.
The Good Boys came together in 2013 and have a sound that harkens back to the classics like The Beach Boys and The Beatles and an era when bands dressed sharply.
