Videos for a Lazy Sunday: Soft Fangs’ ‘The Wilderness’

Brooklyn-via-Boston singer/songwriter Soft Fangs (aka John Lutkevich) had this to say about the video for ‘The Wilderness’, taken from his debut album The Light, out now on Exploding in Sound/Disposable America Records.

“The video (which was shot in Owl’s Head, Maine) is based around aimlessness. When you’re a kid, you conjure up all sorts of imaginary things, purely because you’ve got nothing better to do. From aimlessness, something is created. I wanted to explore that, so we went to the beach with nothing planned & I dressed like a figment of my imagination. At the end of the day, we had a music video, and that seemed purposeful enough,” Lutkevich said in a statement.

He also offered free streams of ‘The Air’ and ‘Birthday’;

He recorded The Light at his childhood home. It’s the follow-up to his self-titled 2014 EP.

Soft Fangs will play in Allston, Massachusetts on July 17, venue TBA.

Brooklyn’s Big Ups have shared a free stream of ‘Rash’ from their forthcoming 7″ single with Washer on Exploding in Sound on November 18.

The single will be released in conjunction with Big Ups’ label ECB & B.

“We live in a city so densely populated, that it feels impossible to escape and actually be alone. We’re always surrounded by people on the street and the transit system. Even in our apartments, we are separated from our neighbors by a few feet of drywall. On bad days, this can all be too overwhelming. Specifically, the song uses the idea of rash to manifest this idea; everyone can see one’s irregularities in the open without pretense,” Big Ups’ frontman Joe Galarraga said in a statement.
