NYC singer Jeff Rosenstock gave his fans a New Years surprise by offering a free stream of his new album POST-.
It’s also available for free download/PWYC. Click on the embedded player to be directed to Rosenstock’s Bandcamp page. He’s also offering his entire catalogue for PWYC via his Quote Unquote Records label.
He wrote the album in a double-wide trailer in the Catskills Mountain town of East Durham. The serene location was a change of pace of Rosenstock, who is used to playing around the world. He even had an elderly woman approach him in Croatia and tell him she was a fan. She gave him a sculpture that he hung in his bathroom.
Prior to striking out on his own, he spent a decade playing with Bomb the Music Industry! before he started producing records by artists such as The Smith Street Band, Dan Andriano, Mikey Erg and more.
Following the release of their album WORRY, the band made their first appearance on television on Last Call with Carson Daly and USA Today declared WORRY to be the #1 album of 2016.
“2017 kinda felt like the year when we snuck in the back door,” Rosenstock said in an e-mail. “We kept getting opportunities to do stuff – even though we take those opportunities to do stupid shit like say how much we made on stage.”
He’s also been tapped to compose all of the music for the new Cartoon Network program Craig the Creek, which will air in 2018.
“The four of us stood in a room without headphones on and just played the songs live to tape, and after that we had some friends (Dan Potthast, Laura Stevenson, Chris Farren, PUP) fill out some of the sound,” he said.
