Looking For A Place T.O. Happen, September 14 & 15

The Toronto International Film Festival may be in full swing but that doesn’t mean there’s a shortage of great live music this weekend.

Speaking of TIFF, Toronto-via-Berlin electro artist Peaches is taking over The Drake Hotel to celebrate the release of her film Peaches Does Herself. The building-wide performance will feature a laser harp performance in the Raised Lounge with an appearance by comedian Sandy Kane.

She’ll also join post-rock band Jolly Goods in the Underground and transgender performance artist Dani Daniels in Room 222 plus much more.

If you’re looking to take a break from the madness that is TIFF, head to Lee’s Palace for Heavy Metal For Girls CD release party featuring Rambunctious, The Reply and Young Doctors In Love.

Or, if you want to head to one of the more unique events happening this weekend, SS Songs is presenting a DJ set by The Smiths Andy Rourke on The River Gambler. The event will also feature sets from Dwayne Gretzky and Stella Ella Ola.

It departs from the boat docks at Parliament and Queens Quay at 9 pm and the cover is $15.

Saturday’s best bet is the always amazing Lily Frost’s CD release party for her forthcoming album Do What You Love, out on October 2, at The Rivoli. She’ll be joined by Lou Canon. Cover is $15 and that also nets you a free copy of the new album.
