Ireland’s Villagers Visit {Awayland} On Second Album

Villagers Awayland cover

Ireland’s Villagers announced that their sophomore release {Awayland} will hit shelves in North America on April 9 on Domino Records.

The album was released today in Ireland, the UK and Europe.

{Awayland} is the follow-up to their Mercury Prize nominated debut Becoming A Jackal. The recording saw the band shift away from being a solo project for frontman Conor J. O’Brien to a collaborative effort with his touring bandmates.

Though it initially started out with just O’Brien and his acoustic guitar, he felt a need to, “flip on its head the idea of what music is for myself,” after he started listening to the musical soundscapes of Lalo Schifrin and David Axelrod.
