Nashville artist Mikky Ekko spent his childhood travelling around the deep south with his tar plant manger father turned preacher, receiving firsthand experience with southern gospel, poverty and the resilient past of the deep south. From there, his own music started to take shape.
‘Who Are You Really’ was born out of a period spent living in Nashville working various jobs and playing in different bands. The single caught the ear of elusive New Jersey producer Michael Volpe (aka Clams Casino) and he invited Ekko to NYC where the pair became fast friends after writing together.
Ekko’s debut album on RCA, out in 2013, release date TBD, sees his collaborating with Clams, Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence and the Machine), Elof (Niki and the Dove), John Hill (MIA, Santigold), Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs).
